Extra-Curricular

We offer a range of extra and co-curricular activities at Coláiste Nano Nagle.

Basketball

Basketball training takes places for first and second years on Wednesdays from 3-4pm with Ms. Hamill and Mr. Daly and for senior and cadet students on Thursdays from 3-4pm with Ms Griffin. All students are welcome to come along.

Badminton

Badminton takes place Mondays at lunch time in the Gym. 

 

Choir

Choir practice takes place at lunch time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Ms O'Toole. The choir perform at many school events during the year.

Craft Club

Craft Club takes place on Mondays after school with Ms. Ní Chinnéide. Craft Club is a place for students to come and have a creative outlet. 

 

Dance

We have a fantastic Dance Team that meet on Fridays with Ms. Hayes. The team perform at various school events throughout the year.

 

Debating Team

We have a long running and successful debating team here in Coláiste Nano Nagle. There is both a junior and senior debating team. Taking part in debating improves communication skills, public speaking, builds confidence and helps students formulate ideas and arguments

 

Drama Club

Drama Club takes place on Wednesdays. Drama Club consists is a diverse group of students with one crucial common interest, and that is putting on a show. Our students love to create and showcase their talents at performances throughout the year. Students are supported by Ms. J. Ryan and Ms. Dinnage.

 

Gaisce

Gaisce is a developmental programme for young people ages 15 - 25. Gaisce's mission is to contribute to the development of all young people through the achievement of personal challenges. Awards can be entered directly (without a previous award) or indirectly (from a previous award). There are four challenges in each award, which all must be outside school:

  • Community Involvement – Charity work, Help with a youth club, Green Schools, Tidy Towns, Helping with children
  • Personal Skill – ECDL, Musical instrument, Dance, Singing lessons, Web design, Learn a foreign language 
  • Physical Recreation – Walking, Cycling, Tennis, Badminton, Golf, Soccer, Gaelic, Rugby, Swimming, A marathon
  • Adventure Journey/Research – Adventure center, European walk/cycle, Mountain hike, Canoeing etc.

Gaisce offers students an opportunity to help them reach their full potential.

Green Schools Committee

Green-Schools is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes whole school action towards a sustainable environment through the implementation of the Seven Step methodology. In Coláiste Nano Nagle we are delighted to announce that we have received our fourth Green Flag for Travel, the three previous Green Flags we have won are for: litter & waste, energy and water. 

 

Junk Kouture

Junk Kouture is a co-curricular activity that takes place in Transition Year. Junk Kouture challenges young people to design, upcycle and create high end Kouture from recycled Junk, before showcasing their design and representing their school on stages across the world! Our school have been successful in reaching multiple Regional, National and World Finals in recent years. The Junk Kouture students are supported by Ms. Nestor.

 

Soccer

Our soccer team are very active in the school and train on Tuesdays after school with Mr. D. Ryan and Mr. McNamara. Our students have been successful in recent years, some of whom are playing as part of local regional teams and have played in tournaments such as the Gaynor Cup, and some who are part of the U16 National Irish Team.

Science and Technology Club

Science and Technology Club takes place on Thursdays after school with Ms. Prior. Science and Technology Club is supported by Teen Turn, with volunteers from the University of Limerick. Students get to create projects, design apps and learn coding. The Science projects are entered into multiple competitions including BT Young Scientist, Sci Fest, Technovation and BD STEM Stars.
